To the Secret Forest and back.

Took my best friend (my camera) for a walk around Oxley Creek common, located near the Brisbane Markets at Rocklea.  I’ve been here before to Kayak on the creek, but have never been on the dirt track that follows the creek.  It’s a really easy walk or bike ride, with not one incline on the whole track.  Dogs are allowed but must be on leash.

The ammenities near the carpark or also pretty good with both toilet facilities and BBQ’s, as well as plenty of seating. Once on the walking track there are no facilities.  I’ve also been told there are snakes, but did not see any on my walk, even when I ventured a little off track.

Probably about half way on the track there is a gated track to the left which takes you to Pelican Island.  Didn’t see any pelicans either, but it’s amazing that so close to suburbia there was plenty of other birdlife.

There’s a spot on this track with some water and a big tree, that I intend revisiting for some sunset or sunrise shots.

You have to walk back the way you came to get back on the main track which continues to the Secret Forest, which is also the end of the walking track.

To return to the car park, you again have to go back the way you came. There is no return loop.

As well as some farm animals that are behind barbed wire fences, there are also open fields with wild flowers and dry grass, which would make great portrait back drops.
